What is MOMS?


MOMS stands for Medicaid Obstetrical and Maternal Services.The MOMS Program offers low-cost or no-cost prenatal care to women and teens who live in New York State. When you enroll into the MOMS Program the prenatal care is provided by a medical provider, but other services, such as health education, counseling and care coordination, are provided by other community agencies to which you will be referred by the medical provider. While PCAP offers all the services at one site. MOMS programs are provided in areas of the state where PCAP health centers are not located. This program offers the following services:

  • Regular Medical Check-ups
  • Hospital Care During Pregnancy and Delivery
  • Information about Pregnancy, Labor and Delivery
  • HIV Counseling
  • Referrals and Assistance in Applying for Other Programs
  • Health Care for Mother Two Months after Delivery
  • Health Care for Baby for One Year after Birth
  • And More!

Who Qualifies for MOMS?


Women and teens who live in New York State who are pregnant and who meet certain income guidelines receive free medical care during pregnancy and delivery.
