CPSC, Atico International USA, Inc. Announce Recall of Children's Arm Band Pool Floats Sold at CVS Stores

WASHINGTON, D.C. - The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, in cooperation with the firm named below, today announced a voluntary recall of the following consumer product. Consumers should stop using recalled products immediately unless otherwise instructed.

Name of Product: Surf Club(tm) Arm Bands

Units: About 480,000 pairs

Agent: Atico International USA, Inc., of Fort Lauderdale, Fla.

Importer: CVS Pharmacy, Inc., of Woonsocket, R.I.

Hazard: The seams of the inflatable arm bands can tear, causing them to deflate. This poses a drowning hazard to young children.

Incidents/Injuries: Atico International has received two reports of the seams of inflatable arm bands tearing during use. No injuries have been reported. This recall is being conducted to prevent the possibility of injuries.

Description: The recalled plastic inflatable arm band pool floats are bright orange on the outside and white on the inside with an inflation valve on each side. They are imprinted with a "Surf Club" logo, "CVS/pharmacy," and "Caution: This is not a lifesaving device. Do not leave child unattended while in use." When inflated, the arm bands measure about 8-inches long by 6-inches wide.

Sold at: CVS stores nationwide from April 2003 through August 2005 for about $1.

Manufactured in: China

Remedy: Parents should immediately stop their children from using the recalled arm band pool floats and return them to CVS for a full refund.

CPSC, World Wide Cycle Supply Inc. Announce Recall of Bicycles Sold at Toys "R" Us

WASHINGTON, D.C. - The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, in cooperation with the firm named below, today announced a voluntary recall of the following consumer product. Consumers should stop using recalled products immediately unless otherwise instructed.

Name of Product: Harley-Davidson 16-inch BMX Bicycles

Units: About 25,000

Distributor: World Wide Cycle Supply Inc., of Islandia, N.Y.

Hazard: The fork that holds the front wheel can separate at the weld, causing the rider to fall and suffer injuries.

Incidents/Injuries: World Wide Cycle Supply Inc. has received 15 reports of fork welds breaking on these bicycles. There have been reports of six riders suffering injuries including injuries to the face, hands and mouth such as bruises, lacerations and lost teeth.

Description: The bicycle has a yellow and red painted flame pattern with a yellow fork and a sticker containing the words "Harley-Davidson" on the fork leg. Only bicycles with the following serial numbers are being
recalled:

The serial number can be found on the bottom bracket shell, which is located underneath the pedals and can be viewed by turning the bicycle upside down.

Sold at: Toys "R" Us stores nationwide from July 2002 through June 2005 for about $80.

Manufactured in: China

Remedy: Consumers should stop riding the bicycle immediately and return it to a Toys "R" Us store for store credit in the amount of the purchase price.

CPSC, Pottery Barn Kids Announce Recall of Spindle Cribs

WASHINGTON, D.C. - The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission announces the following recall in voluntary cooperation with the firm below.
Consumers should stop using recalled products immediately unless otherwise instructed.

Name of Product: Spindle Crib

Units: About 7,600

Distributor: Pottery Barn Kids, of San Francisco, Calif.

Hazard: The spindles on the crib's front rail can loosen and detach from the rail. This can allow the child to fall from the crib and poses a risk of entrapment.

Incidents/Injuries: Pottery Barn Kids has received six reports of incidents involving spindles detaching from the crib. No injuries have been reported.

Description: This recall involves the Spindle Crib, model number 4825402. The product name and model number are printed on a label affixed to the base of the crib. Sold in white, pink and blue, the cribs are made of hardwood and measure 30.5 x 54.5 x 45" high.

Sold at: Pottery Barn Kids retail stores, the Pottery Barn Kids catalog and PotteryBarnKids.com nationwide from January 2004 through July 2005 for between $300 and $500.

Manufactured in: Taiwan

Remedy: Consumers should immediately stop using these cribs and contact Pottery Barn Kids to receive a free replacement front rail or a full refund (including shipping).
