LeapFrog Recalls to Repair Children's Activity Centers Due to Arm Entrapment Hazard
WASHINGTON, D.C. - The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, in cooperation with the firm named below, today announced a voluntary recall of the following consumer product. Consumers should stop using recalled products immediately unless otherwise instructed.
Name of Product: Learn-Around Playground Activity Center
Units: About 186,000
Manufacturer: LeapFrog Enterprises Inc., of Emeryville, Calif.
Hazard: A child's arm can become caught in the activity center's plastic tube, posing a risk of injury to children.
Incidents/Injuries: LeapFrog has received 145 reports of children's arms becoming caught in the plastic tube, resulting in 54 reports of minor scratches and bruises.
Description and Models: The Learn-Around Playground is a multi-colored, plastic musical activity center for young children ages 6 to 36 months.
It includes a Slide and Sing alphabet panel and a ball drop on the left side, a Number Rock musical keyboard in the center, and a Flying Rhymes airplane, pop-up LittleLeap, and "smart" book on the right side. "Leap Frog Baby" is printed on the activity center. Item number 10200 is written underneath the activity table below "Made in China."
Sold at: Department stores and toy stores nationwide, on the Web site www.leapfrog.com, and other online retailers from July 2005 through August 2006 for about $60.

Remedy: Consumers should immediately take the recalled activity center away from children and contact LeapFrog for a free repair kit.

WASHINGTON, D.C. - The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, in cooperation with the firm named below, today announced a voluntary recall of the following consumer product. Consumers should stop using recalled products immediately unless otherwise instructed.
Name of Product: "phil & teds" T2 Travel Cots
Units: About 1,000
Distributor: Regal Lager Inc., of Kennesaw, Ga.
Hazard: The plastic cap on the corner connectors can come loose, posing a small parts choking hazard to young children.
Incidents/Injuries: Regal Lager has received one report of a cap found in a child's mouth. No injuries were reported.
Description: The recalled travel cot consists of an aluminum frame with four legs that holds a fabric enclosure for a small child with mesh windows on all sides and a zippered mesh opening on the top. The cot has big black labels on each long side with a white T in a red circle, as well as phil & teds logos on each short end.
Sold by: Baby Furniture and baby product stores nationwide and through Web retailers from June 2005 through August 2006 for about $150.
Manufactured in: China
Remedy: Consumer should stop using these cots immediately, and contact Regal Lager for a free repair kit.

Children's Bathrobes Sold at Ross Stores Recalled Due to Burn Hazard
WASHINGTON, D.C. - The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, in cooperation with the firm named below, today announced a voluntary recall of the following consumer product. Consumers should stop using recalled products immediately unless otherwise instructed.
Name of Product: "Que Cute" Children's Bathrobes
Units: About 740
Importer: Roden Industries Inc., Hollywood, Fla.
Hazard: These bathrobes fail to meet the children's sleepwear flammability standard, and pose a burn hazard.
Incidents/Injuries: No incidents or injuries have been reported.
Description: The recalled bathrobes are made of 100 percent cotton terrycloth. The bathrobes were sold in several color combinations
including: white with pink pockets and a green collar; dark blue with yellow pockets and an orange collar; and light pink with a hood with pig ears, eyes, and nose. The recalled robes were infant and toddler sizes.
A label on the inside of the garment reads, "Que Cute."
Sold at: Ross Stores nationwide during February 2006 for about $4.
Manufactured in: China
Remedy: Consumers should immediately stop wearing these bathrobes and return them to any Ross Store for a full refund.

LEGO Recalls Toy Trucks Due to Puncture Hazard to Young Children
WASHINGTON, D.C. - The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, in cooperation with the firm named below, today announced a voluntary recall of the following consumer product. Consumers should stop using recalled products immediately unless otherwise instructed.
Name of Product: LEGO EXPLORE Super Trucks
Units: About 358,000
Manufacturer: LEGO Systems Inc., of Enfield, Conn.
Hazard: The plastic wheels on the truck can detach, exposing a metal axle. This poses a puncture hazard to young children.
Incidents/Injuries: LEGO Systems, Inc. has received 10 reports of a wheel detaching. Two children received serious puncture injuries resulting from the exposed metal axle once the wheel detached. Another child fell when the wheel came off of the toy truck.
Description: LEGO EXPLORE Super Truck is a toy-in-toy product designed for children ages 18 months and up. The toy features a red plastic pick-up/dump truck that measures about 15-inches high and 19-inches wide with four 7-inch black plastic wheels that are packed with a box of 40 LEGO DUPLO bricks in the cargo area. The unit has a row of DUPLO "studs"
across the top of the cab, molded yellow headlights and stickers on the front and sides of the unit create the idea of a windshield, windows and doors depicting a LEGO figure in the driver's seat. The LEGO Explore logo is printed on the door stickers. The box of DUPLO bricks is not included in this recall.
Sold at: Various retailers nationwide, including Toys "R" Us and Wal-Mart, from August 2002 through August 2004 for about $20.

The Cayre Group Recalls Hooded Sweatshirts with Drawstrings Sold at Kohl's for Strangulation Hazard

Name of Product: "Candie's" Brand Children's Hoodie Sweatshirts with Drawstrings
Units: About 4,500
Manufacturer: The Cayre Group, of New York, N.Y.
Hazard: These sweatshirts have a drawstring through the hood, posing a strangulation hazard to children. In February 1996, CPSC issued guidelines to help prevent children from strangling or getting entangled on the neck and waist by drawstrings in upper garments, such as jackets and sweatshirts.
Incidents/Injuries: No incidents or injuries have been reported.
Description: The recalled hoodie style zip front hooded sweatshirts were sold in four youth sizes S (7-8), M (9-12), L (14) and XL (16.) The sweatshirts have drawstrings through the hood and were available in two colors, Blue Bell and Demitasse. A tag sewn on the inside of the garment reads, "Candie's."
Sold at: Kohl's department stores and on Kohls.com from August 2006 through September 2006 for between $20 and $36.
Manufactured in: Phillipines
Remedy: Consumers should immediately remove the drawstrings from the sweatshirts to eliminate the hazard, or contact The Cayre Group to return the merchandise for a full refund.

Manufacturer: Gildan Activewear SRL, of Barbados
Hazard: These sweatshirts have a drawstring through the hood, posing a strangulation hazard to children. In February 1996, CPSC issued guidelines to help prevent children from strangling or getting entangled on the neck and waist by drawstrings in upper garments, such as jackets and sweatshirts.
Incidents/Injuries: No incidents or injuries have been reported.
Description: The fleece sweatshirts were sold in youth sizes Extra Small to Extra Large, and have a "Gildan Activewear" neck label. The sweatshirts were manufactured in 12 different colors. These sweatshirts are often used by local print shops to add logos and sportswear decals.
Sold by: Wholesale distributors and applicable sportswear programs nationwide from January 2006 through September 2006. Retail cost between
$13 and $20.
Manufactured in: Honduras
Remedy: Consumers should remove the drawstrings to eliminate the hazard.

Playskool Voluntarily Recalls Toy Tool Benches after the Death of Two Toddlers
WASHINGTON, D.C. - In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), Playskool, of Pawtucket, R.I., is voluntarily recalling about 255,000 Team Talkin' Tool Bench toys following the deaths of two young children.
Playskool received reports that a 19-month-old boy from Martinsburg, W.V., and a 2-year-old boy from League City, Texas, suffocated when oversized, plastic toy nails sold with the tool bench toys became forcefully lodged in their throats. Though the toy nails are not considered a small-part, and the toys are intended for children age 3 and older, Playskool is voluntarily conducting a recall as a precaution to prevent additional incidents.
The Team Talkin' Tool Bench(tm) is a 20-inch tall plastic toy tool bench with an animated red toy saw, a yellow toy drill and a blue toy vice. The toy talks and makes various sound effects, including tool sounds. The product also includes a toy hammer, screwdriver, two 2¼-inch plastic screws, two 3-inch plastic nails and pieces to build a small toy plane. The red Playskool logo is on the front of the brown surface of the tool bench.
The toy was sold at Toys R Us, Wal-Mart, Target, KB Toys stores and various other stores nationwide from October 2005 through September 2006 for about $35.
Consumers should immediately take the two toy nails away from children and contact Playskool to get information on returning the nails for a $50 certificate for a Playskool (or its related companies') product.

Suave Kids Bath Sets Sold at Wal-Mart Recalled for Choking, Other Hazards

Name of Product: Suave Kids Bath Set
Units: About 11,000
Manufacturer: Almar Sales Co., of New York, NY
Hazard: Items in the baths sets contain small parts that pose a choking hazard to young children. Additionally, some of the handles on the carrying case are long enough to pose a strangulation hazard. Also, the plastic carrying case poses a danger of suffocation.
Incidents/Injuries: No injuries or incidents have been reported.
Description: This recall involves "Suave" brand bath sets that contain a
3-in-1 shampoo, bath sponge, and various other toy animal and character bath products. The baths sets are packaged in brightly colored vinyl bags with a clear window. Style numbers involved in this recall are: SVK 9498, 9499, 9501, 9506, 9507 and 9508. The style numbers are located on the back and/or bottom right corner of the package, above the UPC code.
Sold at: Wal-Mart stores nationwide from March 2006 through June 2006 for about $10.
Manufactured in: China
Remedy: Consumers should stop using these bath sets and either dispose of them or return them to the store where purchased for a full refund.
